C.J. Ross passed for 193 yards and 3 touchdowns while Ryder Machado contributed in each phase of the game Friday night when Delaware Valley ran its winning streak to five games with a 35-0, Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 shutout of visiting Scranton.
Ross finished 8-for-15 passing. Two of his touchdown passes went to Harlem Cook, who finished with 4 catches for 102 yards.
Machado, a sophomore, led the team in tackles and rushing yards while also blocking a punt. He made eight tackles and assisted on two others. Machado also ran for 73 yards on 6 carries, including a 47-yard run for the only score of the first quarter.
Delaware Valley scored three touchdowns in the last six minutes of the first half for a 28-0 lead, then added another in the first minute of the third quarter to assure that the rest of the game would be played under the Mercy Rule.
Ross hit Cook for a 60-yard touchdown with 5:49 left in the second quarter and Aiden Black for a 39-yarder with 1:29 remaining.
Paulie Weinrich then ran 23 yards for another score as time expired in the half.
Just 57 seconds into the second half, the Warriors struck again with a 26-yard, Ross-to-Cook touchdown pass.
Weinrich also intercepted a pass, Justin Kalitsnik made two tackles and assisted on seven others and Danny Anderson had a sack in the shutout.
The shutout was the second straight for Delaware Valley, which has allowed just 26 points in the five-game winning streak. The Warriors, who are 5-3 overall, moved into a tie for the LFC Division 1 lead with North Pocono at 2-0. Each team has one more game before meeting in the regular-season finale.
Scranton fell to 1-1 in the division and 3-5 overall.
