Delaware Valley falls to 0-3

Downingtown East piled up 500 yards of offense Friday night on the way to a 39-14 victory over visiting Delaware Valley in a non-league football game.

The result improved Downingtown East to 3-0 while dropping Delaware Valley to 0-3.

Jamy Jenkins went 17-for-23 for 327 yards passing while throwing touchdowns to three different receivers. Mike Giardano finished with 7 catches for 152 yards. Bo Horvath ran for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns on 21 carries.

Most of Delaware Valley’s offense came on the ground.

Joe Sciascia led the Warriors with 94 yards on 19 carries. Paulie Weinrich, who picked up 52 yards on 11 carries, and Justin Kalitsnik each ran for touchdowns.

Delaware Valley led briefly in the first quarter.

Weinrich’s 9-yard run created a 7-6 lead.

Horvath’s 30-yard run put the Cougars in front after one quarter and his 2-yarder made it 18-7 at halftime.

Those were the first two of five straight touchdowns to break the game open.

Jenkins threw his last two touchdown passes in the third and fourth quarters.

In between, Horvath ran 10 yards to make it 32-7 going to the fourth quarter.

Kalitsnik, who had 5 tackles and 11 assists to lead the Delaware Valley defense, scored the game’s last touchdown on a 2-yard run.
