North Pocono routs Honesdale

North Pocono found four different routes to the end zone while opening a 46-point halftime lead Friday night on the way to a 46-21 romp over host Honesdale in a non-league between Lackawanna Football Conference teams.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the 46-point half on a blocked punt return and closed it on an interception return.

In between, Will Soma ran for two touchdowns along with throwing for a touchdown and two-point conversion.

When the defense and special teams were not providing North Pocono with points, they were setting up the offense in excellent field position that was used for 26 points in the first quarter and 20 more in the second.

The Trojans (2-1) scored before running an offensive play.

They forced Honesdale (1-2) to punt from its 26.

Alex Brinkman led several players who poured through the Honesdale blockers. He got his hands on the kick and kept after the bouncing ball until scooping it up at the 6 and carrying it in for a 6-0 lead.

Soma ran for the next two scores from 1 and 6 yards, then gave North Pocono its first conversion with a pass to Danny Smith following the third touchdown.

The Trojans took the ball right back at the 21 on a fumble and Michael Blaine scored from the 6 for the 26-0 lead.

Soma found Ashton Smith with a 27-yard pass for the first of three second-quarter touchdowns.

Korry Eisley scored the other two on a 5-yard run and 38-yard interception return.

Connor Schmitt produced 14 Honesdale points in the third quarter on runs of 2 and 20 yards and a two-point conversion and the Hornets added another score in the fourth quarter.
