Spataro leads unbeaten Chiefs

Dominico Spataro threw touchdown passes to three different receivers and ran for another score Friday night as visiting Lakeland remained unbeaten overall by defeating Carbondale, 33-14, in the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 3 opener for both teams.

Spataro went 16-for-19 passing for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns without throwing an interception. He has completed exactly two-thirds of his passes (66.7 percent) while compiling a 12-3, touchdown-to-interception ratio in the Chiefs’ 5-0 start.

The Chiefs spread the ball around in the passing game.

Jon Seamans caught the longest pass, a 35-yard touchdown to erase a deficit and put the Chiefs ahead 13-8 after one quarter, while three other receivers had more catches.

Nick Mancuso had 7 catches for 65 yards and a touchdown, Kevin Snyder had a touchdown and team-high 80 receiving yards on 3 catches and Lacota Dippre had 4 catches for 58 yards.

Jaron Bullick carried 10 times for 65 yards. Spataro, who had 33 yards on 6 carries, and Dippre ran for touchdowns.

Dippre had five tackles, including two for losses. Nick Curcio had five tackles, including one for a loss, and three assists. Seamans had four tackles, two assists and an interception.
