Hayden Ward scored three first-half touchdowns Friday night to lead unbeaten Canton to a 60-7 rout of host Hanover Area in a non-league football game.
Canton improved to 9-0. Hanover Area is 2-6.
The Hawkeyes tied the game at 7-7 with 1:30 left in the first quarter on an 80-yard, Christian Torres to Jake Zola pass.
Ward, however, scored on a 30-yard run before the quarter ended, then ran for one score and returned an interception for another during a 34-point second quarter that produced a 48-7 lead. His interception return was Canton’s second for a touchdown in the game.
