District 2 Honor Roll

The top performances in District 2 sports from the week of Oct. 11-17:

ELLA BARBACCI, Wyoming Seminary field hockey

Barbacci had eight goals and four assists in three wins by the nationally ranked Blue Knights. She had three goals and two assists in a win over Dallas, an assist in a 2-0 victory over Lake-Lehman, then five goals and an assist in a romp over Mount St. Joseph’s Academy.

MOLLY DeMARZO, Crestwood girls cross country

DeMarzo finished in 19:33, making her 5-for-5 in finishing first in five- and six-team Wyoming Valley Conference cluster meets this season and keeping her perfect in such meets for her entire four-year career. She led the way as Crestwood defeated Holy Redeemer, 17-39, in a meeting of the last two WVC unbeatens.

ZACH FOX, Nanticoke football

Fox carried 40 times for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns during a 46-14 victory over Holy Redeemer. He surpassed 200 yards in the first half and also finished the game with 4 successful two-point conversion runs for a total of 26 points.

NADIA GILL, Lakeland girls soccer

Gill scored 14 of the Lady Chiefs’ 25 goals in 4 games, including 3 games on the road, as the Lackawanna League Division 2 leaders extended their winning streak to 11 games.

ROBERT ROSSI, Scranton Prep football

Rossi caught 7 passes for 229 yards and 4 touchdowns during unbeaten Scranton Prep’s 52-21 victory over Tunkhannock.
