The top performances in District 2 sports from the week of Nov. 1-7:
ABBY DAVIS, Lakeland girls soccer
Davis had a hat trick in the semifinals, then scored the first goal in a 2-1 championship game victory when Lakeland avenged a loss in last year’s District 2 Class A final.
LACOTA DIPPRE, Lakeland football
Dippre was responsible for four of the seven turnovers Lakeland forced during a 44-7 victory in the quarterfinals of the District 2 Class 3A playoffs. He returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown along with forcing and recovering fumbles that set up touchdowns and rushing the passer into an interception. That was just the start for the 6-foot-3, 230-pound junior two-way end. Dippre made six tackles, three of which were for losses. Dippre also caught 5 passes for 49 yards.
KARISSA GHIGIARELLI, Riverside girls tennis
Ghigiarelli finished second in the state in Class 2A singles at the PIAA Championships. The silver medal goes with the state gold she won in 2019 and caps a career in which she won four District 2 titles and lost just twice, including in the 2018 state quarterfinals as a freshman.
MADISON HEDGLIN, Dallas girls cross country
The freshman, one of only two District 2 girls to break 20 minutes at the PIAA Championships, earned a 15th-place state medal in Class 2A. Hedglin also led Dallas to a 12th-place finish in the state, two places in front of Holy Redeemer, which had edged it out in the District 2 Championships a week earlier.
EMILY HENN, Delaware Valley girls volleyball
Henn had nine kills, nine digs, five service points and three aces as Delaware Valley rolled to the District 2 Class 4A title with its 25-9, 25-18, 25-15 victory over Hazleton Area.
CECELIA ISENBERG, Berwick girls volleyball
Isenberg had 24 kills and 9 digs when Berwick swept Nanticoke, 25-14, 25-7, 25-18, in the District 2 Class 3A championship match.
CALEB KENYON, North Pocono boys cross country
Kenyon had the best time and the best place finish of any District 2 boys runner at the PIAA Championships. He finished third in the state in Class 3A and helped North Pocono place 14th as a team.
RON PRISLUPSKI, Holy Cross boys soccer
Prislupski scored 14 goals, assisted on 2 more, reached a milestone, then set a record during the three games of the District 2 Class A tournament while leading the Crusaders to the title. Prislupski had six goals in the quarterfinal against MMI to reach 100 for his career. He had five goals and an assist against Old Forge in the semifinal, then three goals and an assist against Mountain View in the championship game, giving him a school record 109. Prislupski since added a goal in a state tournament loss, giving him 72 for the season, the most in the country among schools that report through maxpreps.com.
