District 2 Honor Roll

The top performances in District 2 sports from the week of Nov. 22-28:

CONNOR HILLING, Valley View football

Hilling carried 20 times for 176 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown, in Valley View’s 35-25, Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 4A state football quarterfinal loss to Bishop Shanahan. Hilling also had 2 kickoff returns for 80 yards, including a 71-yarder to set up a score. His 20-yard run put Valley View in Bishop Shanahan territory, trailing 28-25 in the closing minutes.

ALANA PALMAIOLI, Lake-Lehman girls cross country

Palmaioli finished 50^th out of 101 in the freshman-sophomore race of the Eastbay Cross Country Northeast Regionals at Van Cortland Park in Bronx, N.Y. Formerly the Foot Locker Cross Country Regionals and Nationals, the Northeast event takes in top high school runners from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, D.C.

ROBERT ROSSI, Scranton Prep football

Rossi scored one Scranton Prep touchdown and set up in the other during a 35-14 loss to Wyomissing in the PIAA Class 3A state football quarterfinals. Rossi had all 4 of Scranton Prep’s pass receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 40 yards from punt formation to set up the first Cavaliers touchdown.

MARIO SAMONY, Old Forge football

Samony got 8 passes for 104 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown, in Old Forge’s 20-14, overtime loss to Canton in the PIAA Class A state football quarterfinals. He also made two tackles, assisted two more and broke up a pass.
