The top performances in District 2 sports from the week of Oct. 25-31:
PARKER BOLESTA, Dallas football
Bolesta carried 16 times for 313 yards and 5 touchdowns as Dallas closed the regular season with a 35-0 romp at Tunkhannock.
KAYLEE GRYBOSKI, Holy Redeemer girls volleyball
Gryboski had 19 kills, 8 service points, 5 digs and 2 assists when third-seeded Holy Redeemer went to second-seeded Dunmore and won a District 2 Class 2A semifinal, 25-11, 24-26, 25-20, 25-16, Oct. 27.
KRISTA JONES, Elk Lake girls cross country
Jones ran the fastest time in any of the three girls races at the District 2 championships while helping Elk Lake claim District 2’s second team berth at the state meet. Jones won her third Class A title with a time of 19:29.8.
CALEB KENYON, Scranton Prep boys cross country
Kenyon won the District 2 Class 3A individual title and led the Trojans to the team title. His time of 15:59.6 was 35.5 seconds faster than any of the other 212 boys who competed in the 3 district races Oct. 28 at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds.
LONDON MONTGOMERY, Scranton Prep football
Montgomery carried 42 times for 262 yards and both Scranton Prep touchdowns during a 17-10 victory over Valley View in a battle of unbeatens for the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2 championship. He also made two tackles for losses.
LOGAN PACZEWSKI, Dallas boys golf
Paczewski birdied 5 of the final 13 holes of his high school career to shoot the best round of the day at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Team Golf Championships. Paczewski shot a 2-under-par, 69, but the Mountaineers wound up sixth in Class 3A.
ILANA ROSENTHAL, Wyoming Seminary girls tennis
Rosenthal won all four of her number-one singles matches during the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 2A tournament while leading the Blue Knights to the state title. Rosenthal’s three-set victory provided the deciding point in a 3-2 win over Sewickley Academy in the final.
JAMES SOBOL, Old Forge football
Sobol accounted for all five touchdowns in Old Forge’s Lackawanna League Division 4 title-clinching, 35-0 victory at Lackawanna Trail. He completed 14 of 21 passes for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns while carrying 11 times for 41 yards and 2 more scores.
